This is shaping up to be quite the year. I think 2009 will go down in history as a very special recession cycle, imbued with a new, vibrant world spirit coming out of a more fair-minded Obama-led US, and by electronic abilities to connect we never had during past downturns of the dot bomb and early 90s. It’s a great occasion to upgrade how you think, act and communicate about your career and tap into your talent’s actual worth. No need to add more education or training; you contribute special relevance to the best workplaces for you as is. You probably are using career routines that don’t help you much though. I originated a system that evens the playing field between talent and companies. No more wasted effort, no more eroding your value, no more wasted months or years getting your career how you need it to be. It’s made for good Canadians, charting their way forward through a bad economy. Compromises, if you make any this year – will be temporary and chosen by you, not forced upon you by outdated career-care habits. To be a recessionary hero to yourself in 2009, don’t hide out; lead your life so it goes the way you like to live. You’ll need a career manual that helps you make your work and income always go in a direction that’s clearly right for you. You have many viable work options you might not realize, and there are tasteful, no-selling ways to enjoy your career more and improve your income that no other source, not even the most successful and authentic person you know, has told you before. I developed a whole system that has enabled thousands of people a lot like you to reliably assure that career stability and growth are always occurring for them. Now I’ve written the book on my system and it’s available for you as my longtime reader. At New Year’s we’ve often done a special event for readers and this week I’m thrilled to announce publication and how you can get the Career Equity™ book. To love your 2009, you’ll need the help of an extraordinary career manual. I wrote it and we tested it and we’re announcing it in a couple days so watch this space for a post or an email from me. Here are some key reasons my Career Equity™ system helps you always be, do, and have the roles and the pay rates you personally require. By the way you run your next career move, you can get a whole new relationship to your career, a more stable career and an increased value and pay. Or not. For most people most times, nothing even happens. Common career methods waste your time, pay you no dividends in increased salary this time round or build up career ease and amenities for next time you’ll need a job. The old ways most people still use to find work don’t give them much control or say over what roles they take, and squander their bargaining power. Common career thinking and routines can make you aim too low or quit even dreaming about having the work you want. Most career tips keep you reacting to scary HR ‘rules’ never made for you. I find a lot of routine career advice limits your options and even damages your image. It’s actually embarrassing to do and it doesn’t work. All those applications, the rejections, the grillings for junior jobs, the rude recruiters, the frenzied but fruitless networking sessions, the flat feeling when your efforts to get that raise, promotion, career move, career change or self employed startup leave you noplace you’d choose to be. Certainly generic career advice does not reduce frustration. It doesn’t do a lot more things either, such as raise your value, just as you are, without going back to school. My approach gets you advantages others lack because it raises your game and gives you a whole new relationship to your career. Compared to our easier, option-creating, access-granting Career Equity™ way, common career advice can keep you months or years behind how you need your work and income to be. Elegant, natural, effective ways to lead employers are yours when you follow a career strategy. I noticed and made the most rare, advanced career strategies into a system, and continuously refined it over 18 constant years of advising business and creative industry professionals, executives and owners. Following the Career Equity™ system, users as much as tripled the compensation offers they receive and accept. With my book you can now use natural, enjoyable and completely fresh career self-leadership savvy from me and make this life-changing system your own. Even a paragraph of it could save you months of strain and bring you thousands of dollars you’d never be offered using generic career coaching advice; Career Equity™ is that different from what you hear everywhere else. The odd tip you read in the paper or on jobsites may be very good, but I’ve aligned the best steps you can take into a complete and practical system. It’s not motivational words and vague big ideas, it’s step by step, script by script formulas you can follow and adopt your own way. Finally, the go-to book so your talent and career and value make sense to you and you make sense to your next boss or even to a new industry. I could go on and on about my book’s benefits for you, but to get it into your hands sooner, know I would never bother creating this book if it wasn’t a lot different than what you are doing to take care of and grow your career now, and if it didn’t meet a deep human need in an inspiring, thorough and fresh way. That’s what I’m always about in anything I do. I’ve written the book to help you see what your talent’s resilient, permanent pattern is and be able to make the most with it. For years 100% of my week went to advising individuals 1:1, but I’ve been phasing in some changes in how I live and work, too. This year, as in 08, I will privately advise alumni and just 10 individuals directly. See the Client Profile page at http://maryfrancesfox.typepad.com/career_equity/ to learn who I’m able to take on 1:1 in 2009 and if the Profile matches you, please get in touch to discuss your career situation. 1:1 engagements are not impacted by my location and time zone or the client’s. After packaging my system in book form, next up for me is to add fine art and designing fine craft as an emerging new area of mine. If you or colleagues have met me, you know that intuition and creativity are how I approach everything. I went on sabbatical to art school last fall, to nurture these core talents another, longed-for way. The timing of why I’m supplying my system in book form is that now I will be travelling often. My husband is confirmed for increased business travel around Asia for his work this year, with me along. It’s a simple 12 hour time difference between Eastern Time and Asia so we can conveniently communicate at the end of your day which is the start of mine. Should be amazing. The sights. The stimulation. The importing! I’ll share with you the next things I do as an artist-maker should you be interested, as they occur. And most important, to love your 2009, you’ll need the help of an extraordinary career manual. I wrote it and we tested it and we’re announcing it in a couple days so please watch this space for a post or email from me.
